Taipei, Taiwan: Trekking Mt. Hehuan

Taipei - Mt Hehuan

Hehuanshan, 合歡山, Mt. Hehuan (also called Joy Mountain) is a 3,416m tall mountain in Central Taiwan. The peak lies on the boundaries of Nantou and Hualien counties and is within the Taroko Gorge National Park. Mt. Hehuan is a popular destination for the locals; it is also one of the most accessible high altitude hiking trails in Taiwan.

Surabaya, Indonesia: Trekking Mt. Bromo & Ijen Crater

Surabaya - Mt Bromo

Conquer Mt. Bromo, the most well-known active volcano in Indonesia. Mt. Bromo sits in the middle of the “Sea of Sand”. Ijen is known for its beautiful electric blue flames which is actually ignited sulphuric gas that burns up to 600 degrees Celsius. This is the largest blue flame area in the world with the flames reaching up to 5 metres high!

Day Activity
Day 1 Arrive Surabaya – Bromo

Upon your arrival in Surabaya Airport, meet your guide and transfer to Cemoro Lawang (4 hours). Enjoy the changing views from road to countryside with mountains, vegetable and fruit farms during the journey. Check in to the hotel and enjoy free time at your own leisure.

Accommodation: Café Lava Hotel or similar
Day 2 Bromo – Ijen

Morning call at 03:00 AM. Take a jeep to enjoy the beauty of nature and the splendid sunrise at Mt. Penanjakan. Proceed to Mt. Bromo crater through the shimmering sea of sand. Climb up 245 steps of stairs to reach the ridge of Bromo Caldera. After admiring the beautiful panorama, take the jeep back to the hotel for breakfast and freshen up. Check out and continue to Ijen area via Probolinggo by vehicle. Arrive Banyuwangi in the afternoon and proceed to Licin Village.

Day 3 Ijen – Surabaya

Wake up at 01:00 AM and depart for Mt. Ijen. Ijen Crater shows a special type of volcanic feature common to Indonesia, about 1km in diameter and 175m deep. The crater floor is covered completely by a warm lake, milky bluish green in colour, held back by a dam built many years ago by the Dutch, in order to keep the hot mineral, laden water from raining the crop lands below. At certain part in the crater, you will see the blue fire. Take a hike to the rim of the crater and enjoy the sunrise as the sun rays warm you up. Hike down the mountain and take the vehicle back to the hotel for breakfast. Take a nap until the official check out time and transfer to Surabaya Airport Hotel.

Day 4 Depart Surabaya

Free and easy until transfer to airport.

Bintan, Indonesia: Hiking in Gunung Bintan

Gunung Bintan

Come explore the little known Gunung Bintan of Bintan Island. Standing at 340 metres tall, this mountain is not widely explored, so you will get to see unique faunas!

Day Activity
Day 1 Gather at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal at 7.00am for the ferry at 8.10am.

Upon arrival in Bintan, transfer straight to Gunung Bintan for the hike. During the trek, be amazed by the trees in the forest that grow 40 metres tall into the sky. Appreciate music of nature and interesting landscapes. Our guide will also share about the interesting facts and highlights of the surrounding flora and fauna. Be rewarded with magnificent 360 degree view when you reach the summit.

After the hike, enjoy a celebratory late seafood lunch at a local restaurant before washing up and spending some R&R time at a local town where you can buy some souvenirs or snacks.

Take the 8.15pm ferry back to Singapore, arriving Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal at 10.15 pm.

Bali, Indonesia: Trekking Mt. Batur & Rafting at Ayung River

Bali - Ayung River

Paddle down the rapids of Ayung River – one of Bali’s spectacular rivers. Hike up Mt. Batur to witness the beautiful day break over Gunung Agung and explore the summit rim! Finally, end the day with some free & easy time at Kuta Beach.

Day Activity
Day 1 Meet at Ngurah Rai International Airport for transfer to UBUD Village. Free until dinner time. Overnight in hotel.

Day 2 After breakfast, transfer to the Put-In-Point for Rafting. Commence the standard commercial rafting procedures and raft 9km the wild water of Ayung River. End rafting, wash up and break for lunch. Afternoon transfer back to Batur with optional city tours. Overnight in hotel.

Day 3 After breakfast, transfer to the National Park Gate. Guided trek to the Crater of the active Batur Volcano. End trek transfer to Kantamani for lunch. After lunch transfer to Kuta Beach to check into hotel. Overnight in hotel.

Day 1 Arrive Siem Reap

Transfer to hotel for check in and relax until dinner time at a local restaurant.

Accommodation: Siem Reap Hotel

Day 2 Siem Reap – Kulen Mountain – Preah Kral

Depart early with the Guide with a drive to the base of Kulen Mountain for the start of the trek. Take a hike through dense forest, passing the lingas carved into the rock and waterfalls. Enjoy the great view and a well-deserved lunch at a local village, before continuing to Sras Damrei and the Bat Cave. Return to Preah Kral village and enjoy an authentic local dinner.

Accommodation: Monastery (communal style)
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Hiking Distance: 25 KM. Terrain: generally flat.
Day 3 Preah Kral – Ta Penh Village

Say farewell to the monks and set off on a trek through the forest to a hidden temple. Continues hiking to reach tonight’s homestay at Ta Penh Village. The village has about 200 families, and the majority earns their living through agriculture. Stay with a local host family in their modest home with basic bathroom and toilet facilities. It’s a night of primal / basic stay experience.

Hiking Distance: 15 KM. Terrain: generally flat with gentle undulating.
Day 4 Ta Penh Village – Preah Angthom Waterfall – Siem Reap

Walk through rice fields and forest to the mountaintop temple of Kra Hom. Proceed to see the reclining Buddha statue and admire the countryside below your feet. Arrive at Preah Angthom Waterfall where you will have lunch. Go for a swim or simply just relax. Transfer to Siem Reap. Tonight, enjoy a sumptuous farewell dinner to celebrate your hike achievement.

Hiking Distance: 19 KM. Terrain: generally flat with occasional undulating.
Day 5 Depart Siem Reap

Thailand is one of the best places for kayak touring. This trip will take you from the westernised streets of Ao Nang, to deserted islands, amazing limestone landscape, canyons, hidden caves, hidden lagoons and much more! The paddling distance averages from 5 to 15km per day.
