Make Your NS Cohesion Epic? Challenge Accepted

The soldiers from 328 Singapore Combat Engineers (SCE) swiftly maneuvered across the field and secured cover against the enemy. Their objective laid about 15 meters away, within sight but tantalisingly out of reach. Under intense cover fire provided by his platoon, one of the engineers broke away to flank the enemy.
The soldier then took a deep breath. With the opposing force pinned down by effective suppression fire, he wasted no time sprinting across the field, and snatched the enemy's flag with a decisive swipe.
A whistle pierced through the air, signaling the end of the first paintball match of 328 SCE Cohesion at SAFRA Tampines.
The paintball match was part of a massive cohesion event involving close to 700 NSmen from 328 SCE, at SAFRA Tampines on 26 October 2018. On that day, the NSmen first broke up into teams, and then lined up to arm themselves. Just like drawing arms from the armskote, the men checked their fully-loaded paintball guns as they took them off the holding racks.
Lock and loaded! The men stoically marched out onto their battlefield – the futsal pitch. After a short briefing on the rules of the game, they had a “live-firing” session to test their new weapons out.
The game was kept simple with good ol’ Capture the Flag as the objective.
Winning was simple - Be the first team to have a member grab the flag from the opponent's base, which was located on the opposite end of the field.
The catch - If you were shot, you would have to take the "walk of shame" back to your end of the field, only being allowed back into the action after 10 seconds.
Similar to a confrontation on a real battlefield, taking cover and moving strategically were the keys to success. Providing cover fire for teammates while taking out as many opponents with constant and accurate fire, increased the chances of a teammate capturing the opponents’ flag.
Here is one guy who got impatient and rushed for the flag at the wrong time, his only reward being a hailstorm of paintballs.
The flag was eventually captured by one of the teams, who managed to immobilise their opponents by employing effective cover fire!
Not tired out at all, some of the guys indulged in NERF gun wars after the paintball match. With lighter guns and softer “rounds”, strategy was out of the window.
What’s more appropriate than ending off a NERF match with a classic Power Ranger pose?
Other NSmen who preferred more medieval tactics engaged in tag archery matches inspired by the Hunger Games.
There was no doubt some of them were channeling their inner Katniss Everdeen or Legolas during the matches.
Pool and bowling activities were also available, providing a range of activities for all.
Still not convinced that a SAFRA organised cohesion makes all the difference? Don’t take our word for it. Check out these guys:
