Calling all food explorers!

This year, Swensen’s Around the World in more than 80 Days menu features a delectable selection of iconic dishes from different cultures. The menu for the first quarter of the year has already been served with mouth-watering innovations successively each month; Hurry Curry Crayfish Pasta (Singapore), Pineapple Fried Rice Paradise (Thailand) and Essentially Hambagu (Japan).

From April to June 2016, the three new entrées will be Ga Nuong Sa – Grilled Lemongrass Chicken, Bulgogi Roast Beef and Volcano Ayam. Can you guess which culture’s food classics inspired these dishes?

April: Ga Nuong Sa – Grilled Lemongrass Chicken (S$14.90)

The month of April brings a Vietnamese-inspired special called Ga Nuong Sa, also known as Grilled Lemongrass Chicken. The chicken is grilled to perfection and served with a side of flavourful rice, crispy vegetarian spring rolls and salad. Experience the signature Vietnamese flavour palette infused with fragrant lemongrass that’s just seeping from the beautifully browned and tender chicken. A crunchy bite of the fried spring rolls adds an exciting layer to the texture of the dish. Completing this Vietnamese innovation is the traditional dipping sauce, Nuoc Mam Cham, which is a pleasant combination of sweet and spicy.

May: Bulgogi Roast Beef (S$19.90)

You can’t rush perfection, so a slow roast is the way to go with this unique take on the classic Korean beef BBQ. To be introduced later this May, the Bulgogi Roast Beef is a dish made special for meat lovers. The melt-in-your-mouth beef slices are generously immersed in Swensen’s own bulgogi sauce and served with delightfully chunky Kimchi coleslaw.

June: Volcano Ayam (S$14.90)

At first look, the Volcano Ayam is sure to attract fans of spicy food. The intense redness of the sauce soaked in the crispy chicken skin serves as a clear warning of the impending burst of hot, fiery flavours. It’s definitely spicy, but there is a sweet undertone that lets diners who can’t take the heat enjoy it if they wish to try. Besides, who can turn down a good piece of fried chicken? Served with rice and tangy mango salad in June, this dish is a sure-fire winner.
